My journey began in 2012 when I was on a search for good natural human hair extensions myself. Back then there was quite a lot of confusion on the differences between raw and virgin hair, not to mention all these supposedly “exotic” textures that are merely intended to entice the ignorant masses! After a long frustrating search and a lot of money wasted on some disappointingly bad hair, I asked myself : “What do you do when you are faced with a problem?, solve it!”
I founded “Prestige Virgin Hair” in Italy in 2012 and after a few years of learning, researching and educating myself on raw hair, and many trips to India - it was time to rebrand as the word “virgin” is often misused nowadays and often leads to misinformation.
And that’s when Contessa Hair was born.
CONTESSA is Italian for COUNTESS, and a countess is a historical title of nobility in certain European countries referring to a woman holding the rank of count or earl in her own right. In the Victorian era, a woman’s hair was often thought to be one of her most valuable assets. Countesses were renowned for their beautiful long hair, and that’s where I got the inspiration from. And so, that was the birth of Contessa Hair.
